How to break free from negative thoughts & habits

This month I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Che Dyer about patterns of behaviour and thoughts for her Members Area which aims to provide it's subscribers with the inspiration to get moving, creating, soul searching and connecting. Having spoken with her I thought it would be helpful to provide a sguide on how to break free from the patterns that we find ourselves slaves to.

The Perfection Paradigm

Do you take pride in your perfectionism? I mean, what could be wrong with striving to be perfect, it's a good thing isn't it? Maybe not, did you know that perfectionism can actually be detrimental to your health and wellbeing?

Overcome procrastination with 3 simple questions

Meet Polly. She is 36, feeling fed up, she's not really sure what her purpose is in life but she knows that she wants to make a change to something.  She loves yoga and has dreamt about teaching one day.   She's done a lot of research around teacher training courses and she has found one that she loves.  However she has doubts -

10 Reasons Why Everyone Should Have Their Own Life Coach

Have you ever worked with a life coach?  Do you think that you shouldn't need to work with one because you are a yoga teacher and surely you should know what you are doing with your life? I used to think like this. Life coaches were for people who were having a life crisis. Life coaches were not for people who were succeeding at life. My view changed after participating in a life coaching session on abundance and my relationship with money shifted dramatically. I now speak with my coach on a regular basis.

It's Impossible to Fill Your Cup from an Empty Jug

Every morning I wake up, get the kids to school, get myself dressed in whatever I can find that is clean, grab a bite to eat as I run out of the door to work. I work all day with a quick break at lunchtime when I grab a sandwich on the run, trying to find some new shoes for my daughter because she's grown out of the old ones.

All I want for Christmas is Consciousness

Last year I had an over indulgent Christmas.  I worked hard all year and then spent my holidays spending money, drinking alcohol and eating chocolate, brainwashed by the madness that surrounds Christmas. This led to my second burnout of my career and I was in bed unable to do anything for 2 months.  Looking back I am grateful that I suffered this burnout because I made the decision to stop drinking alcohol

Self Care and Burnout Prevention for Yoga Teachers

Imagine you are taking a flight and the air hostess explains that in the event of an emergency you must put your own oxygen mask on first before helping anyone else. I could never understand this. I would think to myself, "Why would I do that? Take care of myself before my loved ones, is she insane? She must've got it wrong."

Transform fear into love this Halloween

It's Halloween, the time for ghosts and ghouls, the spookiest time of the year.  However did you know that the origins of Halloween were not so spooky?  Halloween originates from Samhain, a Celtic festival which marks the end of the Harvest season and the beginning of Winter, the darkest time of the year.  It was also a liminal time when the boundaries between life and death were thought to be at their thinnest.

The Comparison Cobweb

Do you ever fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others without even realising you are doing it? Is there a part of you that wants to snoop on someone else's social media newsfeed just to make sure that you are better than them? I know I do it and I know that it never does me any good.

Yin'ing at Life

Do you love to run headlong at life?  Do you feel guilty if you don't put 100% into everything that you do?  Do you have to be the best at everything?  I know I do, it's the only way to get results right? Well not exactly. In fact, running headlong into life, full steam ahead is the sure fire way to reach burn out or adrenal fatigue. We all need some downtime, especially if you are an adrenilin junkie perfectionist like me.

Nice girls do not listen to their intuition

Your husband says something that winds you up but you don’t respond because you don’t want to cause an argument. Your boss belittles you for something you didn’t do but you don’t stand up for yourself because you don’t know how to without getting into trouble with him. Your Mother says something so outrageous you feel yourself seething inside but you don’t say anything to her because you want to keep the peace. Your intuition is telling you something but you dismiss it and don’t do as it says. Sounds like you?  Read on.

Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself.....

It started on the 20th January. The fear crept in and I couldn't shut it out. I am not a fearful person, nor am I a worrier. I trust that things happen for a reason, that there is a force bigger than us at work and we cannot always see the bigger picture in our limited capacities as human beings.

It's Self Care Time

This Christmas and New Year I have been suffering with illness. This is unusual for me as I am rarely sick. However, this year I struggled through Christmas Day, was in bed on the 26th until the 31st and even then I didn't feel like celebrating. I was wiped out, I felt as though my body had just given up and said "Enough."
