Super Blue Blood Moon Ritual for January

Super Blue Blood Moon Ritual for January

The second full moon of 2018 falls on the 31st January at 14.26.  This full moon is in Leo and is known as a Super Blue Blood Moon, another super moon of the month where the moon will seem brighter and closer to earth than usual.  A blue moon refers to the fact that this is the second full moon of this month which is rare, hence the phrase once in a blue moon.  The blood moon refers to the lunar eclipse taking place that night.  What an intense energetic time, to put this into context the last time we experienced a Super Blood Blue Moon Eclipse was 36 years ago, but having this type of Eclipse in the sign of Leo is extremely rare.

This is the accumulation of great American Eclipse on 21st August 2017 when the new moon was in Leo.  We are being offered a lunar reset on all levels, in every aspect of our consciousness, lives and presence. There is a very strong feminine energy around this Lunar Eclipse which is likely to bring about global changes for women, think of the recent rising of feminine power and a focus on equal rights for women.  This is already being addressed in some places.

The eclipse gives us an opportunity to clear frustrations, distractions and disharmonies to become our pure self.  We embody the moon during the eclipse, we take on her feminine energy as she falls into darkness, we sit with that energy, that stillness and reclaim our own feminine power.

Here is a short ritual to help you harness the transformative power around at present.

It is best to do this during or around the full moon but no more than 72 hours later as the moon energy is at it's most transformative during this period.  Spend some time in the moonlight if you can, connecting to her energy and light before beginning the ritual.

You will need a pen and two sheets of paper, a candle, an insence stick or some sage.

Find a comfortable place where you won't be disturbed. Sit comfortably.

Take a moment to connect to your breath and the present moment. Breathe in to the count of 4 and out to the count of 6 for a few rounds with your eyes closed.

Take your paper and write at the top of it "What do I need to let go of?"  Take some time to write down everything that you are releasing with this powerful full moon and eclipse.  Think back to August 2017, did you begin something then that is coming to it's accumulation now? Do you need to release to move on?  As you write these things down bring to mind some objects that might represent this letting go for you and make a note of them as you will use them to create your altar.

Take your next piece of paper and write the answers these questions -

  • How am I embodying the mother energy to protect myself?
  • My loved ones?
  • My creativity?
  • How am I making sure that I am birthing my projects?
  • How does the Divine Feminine show up in my life at present?

Once you have finished spend some time reconnecting to your breath.  Repeat the breathing exercise.

Take your papers and put them in a sacred space, you can create your altar with the objects that you listed in the first exercise.  Begin to place items in the East and move in a clockwise direction.  When you place each item state clearly what you are releasing with it. Interact daily with you altar as you release and heal from all that does not serve you anymore.  Be sure to remind yourself frequently how you are embodying your Divine Feminine, lioness power that you have harnessed during this full moon.

Enjoy the energies!
